Thanapong SOMKIJRUNGROJ

Thanapong Somkijrungroj is Consultant Ophthalmologist at Bumrungrad International Hospital and specializes in the management of complicated cataract and complex retina diseases related to intraocular inflammation. He founded the Chula-KKU-Proctor-UCSF (CKPU) meeting in January 2016. He trains two or three retina fellows each year and opened a uveitis fellowship training program at Chulalongkorn University and Hospital in 2017. His research interests are uveitis/retina imaging, diagnostic tests for uveitis, CMV kerato-uveitis, Ocular Behcet and other forms of infectious uveitis, intravitreal drug delivery devices and ophthalmic anesthesia injection models. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the ACOM community in 2017. He is an active member of The Royal College of Ophthalmology of Thailand (RCOPT), Thai Retina Society, Thailand Intraocular inflammation and Uveitis Society, and the Cataract and Refractive Surgery Society of Thailand.
