Associate Professor Shamira Perera is a Senior Consultant with the Glaucoma Department at SNEC.  He is the co-head of Bioengineering and devices at SERI and deputy director of the MedTech Office, Singhealth.

A/Prof Perera is a clinician at heart with an interest in innovation and research. He co-authored a Golden Apple award winning, free app module to teach and test cataract with Touch Surgery and won the Institute of Engineers Singapore- Prestigious Engineering award in 2015, and the AHIP-GEM 2017 Award. He was conferred the AAO and APAO achievement awards in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

Supported by competitive research grants totalling over S$2.0M, his core work has yielded 8 patents. He has been an invited lecturer for over 90 conferences, written 5 book chapters and more than 140 peer reviewed publications.
