Toshiaki Goseki, M.D., Ph.D. is a Professor of Ophthalmology, International University of Health and Welfare, Atami Hospital, and director of ophthalmology at the same hospital. He graduated from Kitasato University School of Medicine in 2000 and began his residency in ophthalmology at Kitasato University Hospital. He completed his fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at Kitasato University Hospital under the mentorship of Professor Hitoshi Ishikawa, who is currently the chairman of the Japanese Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (JANOS). He graduated with a Ph.D. from Kitasato University Graduate School in 2006. Before coming to Atami Hospital, he trained as an international clinical fellow in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at Stein Eye Institute, UCLA, under the mentorship of Professor Joseph L. Demer in 2018-2019. He currently serves as the Secretary General of JANOS, and as a board member of the Japanese Association for Strabismus and Amblyopia (JASA), the Japanese Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology (JAPO), and the Asian Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (ASNOS). He received the Japanese Neuro-ophthalmology Society’s Academic Award in 2015, the Hiroishi Prize from JASA in 2018, and the Japanese Ophthalmology Society Council Award in 2022.
